Bohemian Paradise

Glass has been part of Northern Bohemia for centuries. Today, the Crystal Valley connects not only large glassworks and well-known brands, but also small family workshops, museums, galleries and places where traditional craftsmanship continues to be passed down. And there is no need to save a glassworks visit for a rainy day. You can easily combine it with a walk, a trip to the mountains or exploring other interesting places nearby. We have selected several tips where you can watch glassmakers at work and enjoy a full day out in Northern Bohemia at the same time.

This autumn brings several opportunities to stretch the weekend by an extra day or two – and it would be a shame to spend them at home. We have therefore put together a three-day itinerary that takes you to Liberec, the Jizera Mountains and Bohemian Paradise, combining autumn trips with culture, glassmaking, good food and a little relaxation.

The Liberec Region offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes within a relatively small area. In a short space of time, you can move from the dramatic rock scenery of Bohemian Paradise to the mountain ridges of the Krkonoše and Jizera Mountains, the peaceful valleys of the Lusatian Mountains and the pine forests and ponds of the Mácha Region. We have prepared five tips for one-day cycling trips that will take you through some of the most interesting places in the region. Expect iconic landmarks, far-reaching views, technical curiosities, glassmaking traditions and plenty of places to enjoy a well-earned break along the way.
