Vranov– Pantheon

Originally a medieval rock castle, Vranov stands on a narrow sandstone ridge above the right bank of the Jizera River. It was later transformed into a romantic Pantheon with memorials and references to important figures and legendary characters. Visitors walk along the rock ridge, climb stairways and discover corners carved into the sandstone.

Vranov-Pantheon rises directly above Malá Skála and is one of the best short climbs in Bohemian Paradise. From the village, you can reach it on foot by following the red-marked hiking trail towards Frýdštejn; from the railway station, it is just under two kilometres. Cars must be left down in Malá Skála, so the climb itself – among rocks, steps and viewpoints – becomes a natural part of the trip.

A trip to Vranov-Pantheon can easily be extended along the red-marked trail to Frýdštejn, or combined with a walk through Malá Skála, a paddling experience on the Jizera River or scooter rental at Žlutá plovárna. It is an ideal destination for those who want to experience rocks, history, views and a touch of romantic uniqueness in a shorter trip – something you will not find anywhere else in Bohemian Paradise.
