Doksy Chateau

Doksy Chateau is one of the most distinctive landmarks of the town that gave Máchův kraj its summer rhythm. The Renaissance residence in the centre of Doksy has undergone extensive renovation and today brings together history, culture, tourist services and the world of the popular Czech comic Čtyřlístek.

The chateau was founded in the 16th century and its history is connected with important noble families and the changing story of the whole region. Today, its spaces house a tourist information centre, municipal library, exhibition gallery and modern exhibitions using audiovisual elements, touch screens and interactive presentation of history.

A major attraction is the Čtyřlístek Museum, dedicated to the famous comic by Jaroslav Němeček. Doksy and its surroundings inspired the comic town of Třeskoprsky, Lake Mácha became Blaťák and Bezděz Castle appeared as Bezzub.
