For cyclists, Ploučnice Gorge is a distinctive stop along the Ploučnice Cycle Path. The route follows the river from its sources below the Ještěd Ridge towards Děčín, and right here it offers a combination of technical heritage, sandstone landscape and water element in one place. Just get off your bike for a while, walk to the rocks and watch a calm little river turn into a narrow current between stone walls.
The gorge is also well known among paddlers and is one of the strongest experiences on the entire Ploučnice River. The upper section is most often paddled from the gorge in Noviny pod Ralskem towards Mimoň, or further on via Boreček, Brenná or Žízníkov. The shorter route from the gorge to Mimoň is suitable even for less experienced paddlers and takes about two hours; longer sections offer more meanders, silence and river landscape away from the main tourist rush.
