The museum offers three permanent exhibitions: The Endless Story of Jewellery, The Magic Garden – Czech Glass of Seven Centuries and World of Wonders, dedicated to Czech glass Christmas ornaments. Visitors can follow the development of Jablonec jewellery from its beginnings to the present day, learn about glassmaking techniques and look into the world of ornaments, which are among the most delicate expressions of local craft.
A strong part of the museum is the connection between local tradition and global significance. Jablonec jewellery, glass, buttons, medals and Christmas ornaments show that Crystal Valley is not just one place, but a whole network of crafts, workshops, schools and stories. The museum also holds the largest public collection of glass Christmas ornaments in the world, with more than fifteen thousand items.
Kristiánov Glassmaking Settlement
The museum also includes an exhibition in the Kristiánov glassmaking settlement, hidden in the forests of the Jizera Mountains near Bedřichov. In the former glassmaking settlement below Černá hora, visitors can now explore the reconstructed timbered house known as Liščí bouda, where they learn about the life of former glassmakers, the history of the settlement and the production of glass jewellery. Kristiánov adds a powerful landscape experience to the Jablonec museum – a place where craft meets nature and the story of a former mountain settlement.
