Harrachov Glassworks

Harrachov Glassworks shows that the Krkonoše Mountains are not only about mountains, skiing and waterfalls. In Nový Svět, you can see glass directly at the furnace, watch glassmakers and cutters at work and understand how much focus, strength and experience stand behind a single finished piece. It is a place where mountain tradition meets a craft that has belonged to Northern Bohemia for centuries.

A visit to the glassworks offers a direct look into a working site where glass is still made by hand. You will see molten glass, wooden moulds, the work of master glassmakers and the next steps that lead to the creation of drinking and decorative glass. The site also includes the Glass Museum, which presents a historically and technologically comprehensive collection of Harrachov glass production and recalls more than three centuries of glassmaking in Nový Svět.

The glassworks is more than just a tour of the glass hut. The site also includes a company shop, restaurant, café with bakery, tourist hotel and a microbrewery located directly by the glassworks. A visit can therefore easily turn into a longer stop – first glass at the furnace, then the museum, shopping, lunch or a tasting of beer “from the glassmakers”. Harrachov thus offers an experience that adds a craft-based and slightly unexpected side to mountain tourism.
