The land of Jára Cimrman
Right in the U Čápa area stands the Jára Cimrman Lighthouse, an unusual lookout tower that takes itself on the mountain slope exactly as seriously as befits the greatest Czech fictional genius. Jára Cimrman is a legendary Czech character created by theatre authors and comedians – an imaginary inventor, traveller, teacher and universal genius whom Czechs have embraced as part of their humour and cultural identity. Climbing the lighthouse adds a view of the surrounding landscape to the forest park and naturally connects with the Museum of the Cimrman Era. The exhibition works with Cimrman’s fictional world, his life, work and artefacts with typical exaggeration, so the visit will please fans of the Jára Cimrman Theatre as well as those who want to add something truly distinctive to a mountain trip.
