One of the strongest parts of the museum is the Bílou stopou exhibition, which presents the history of Czech skiing up to 1938 and builds on Jilemnice’s reputation as the cradle of Czech skiing. Visitors will also be drawn to the mechanical nativity scene by Jáchym Metelka, created between 1883 and 1913, whose ingenious mechanism sets 142 figures in motion through dozens of movements. A trip to the museum can easily be combined with a walk through Jilemnice, its square, Zvědavá ulička or other stops in a town that still preserves the historic character of a Krkonoše foothill centre.
