Here are a few tips for places to visit on days like these.

Winter may tempt you to reach for your skis or cross-country gear, but why not set out on foot this time? Even in the colder months, you can enjoy peaceful landscapes, sweeping views and places that take on a completely different atmosphere in winter. Northern Bohemia offers plenty of routes, from easy woodland walks and scenic circuits to mountain hikes. We have selected five winter walks from across the Liberec Region. All you need to do is choose the route that suits you, put on a sturdy pair of boots and set off.

A snowless winter doesn't have to put your adventures on hold. The North of Bohemia has plenty to offer, even when the weather isn't playing ball for winter sports. So, leave the skis and cross-country gear in the closet and set off to explore the stunning landscapes of the Jizera and Lusatian Mountains, unique exhibits in regional museums and galleries, and hands-on science adventures.

Ice skating is just as much a part of winter as skiing or cross-country skiing, and in Northern Bohemia there are plenty of ways to enjoy it. When temperatures stay low enough for long enough, reservoirs, ponds and larger bodies of water can turn into natural skating rinks surrounded by winter scenery. And if you would rather not depend on the weather, you can head to one of the region’s ice arenas and take advantage of regular public skating sessions.
