Alma Rosé, niece of Gustav Mahler and one of the most prominent European violinists of her time, was at the peak of her career when Auschwitz entered her life. In the concentration camp, Alma became the conductor of the women's orchestra. For its members, music was hope, solace, and a means of survival.
Sarah Haváčová's acting performance is accompanied directly on stage by a female string quartet.
The evening also includes a discussion with biologist, ethicist, and priest Marek „Orko“ Vácha, which opens up timeless themes of human conscience, moral courage, and responsibility. How do we stand tall in moments when the world around us is collapsing? And why are stories like Alma's still so urgent?
